A little tribute to the Bebop Tango as played by Frank, George & the gang on Roxy & Elsewhere......It says 'The Bebop Tango' & has some pretty tricky dance steps. Don't dance to the pedestrian beat! Here at Old Skool Hooligans we worship at the temple of Zappa. Unfortunately too young to see the 1984 shows at Hammersmith we did manage to catch the ill-fated 1988 tour at Wembley Arena. It was a loud night filled with amazing musicianship and really Frank could've come on & smoked a fag and I would have been happy. Often filled as a misogynistic and deliberately obtuse personality he was actually a brilliant musician who often seemed like he felt pressured live to throw his 'rock' audience a bone now and then so he could explore more unconventional avenues of music. Towards the end of his life he gave an indication of where his career might have gone had he lived - somewhere into world music I think - but with his conceptual continuity twist. Our favourite album - Overnite Sensation. We're also rather fond of You Are What You Is - which many fans don't like. Except it's brilliant.
